Last July, a group of like-minded fangirls got together in the sweltering heat of South Carolina bound only by the love of a sci-fi TV show and a handful of characters. That was the beginning of the weekend. At the end of the weekend, when the last fangirl was on her way home, she left with memories of plushie porn, broken BBQ grills, kick-ass jerk marinade, a non-working swimming pool, caffiene, Hot Zone in black and white, a delightful waiter at the local Ruby Tuesdays (who, given a few more days, might have gotten an education he wasn't quite ready for), Blueberry ale (or the lack of it), great snack food, and lasting friendships... still bound together by the love of a sci-fi TV show and a handful of characters.
Yep, it's that time again… The Second Annual Atlantis Squee Weekend!! It's being held later this year, but hopefully it's far enough away for making plans. Here's the 411:
What: A weekend of Stargate Atlantis fun... watching the episodes, discussing the episodes, watching our favorite characters and more. No set agenda, just a weekend getaway with lots of food, drink, and laughter.
When: September 30 - October 2, 2011 (weather should be lovely)
Where: Beautiful Greenville, South Carolina. Hotel is minutes away from the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, served frequently by US Air and readily accessible by car. (fangirls will be ready and available for airport shuttle service). Room rates for the weekend start at approximately $120 per night for a queen studio room and go up to $149 per night for a 2 BR suite. Rate includes continental breakfast and free wireless (high-speed internet for a fee). Rooms include kitchenette with appliances. 2 BD suite rooms are available for sharing and include a pullout sofabed. Hotel is also close to shopping, food, restaurants, and caffeine! (other accommodations available nearby as well)
We're slash readers/writers so expect discussions to be heavy on the slash. Gen/Het lovers welcome, just don't want you to be surprised. Over 18 only, because there's sure to be some very adult discussions and libation.
