I think the appeal of the discarded version is not the pink, as much as the desaturated, "bleak" tone of it. :b
Or at least, that's what I like about it, but after I added the flames, I just had to saturate the tones, and raise the contrast.

Honestly? I hadn't even thought about sending this to THEM. Probably because they're rather hard to contact, or because I didn't want to bother them, or more simply: good ol' insecurity got in the way, and... *trails off*
But then I read this message, and it gave me a spurt of confidence.
So I tried sending the pic to the few known address they once used. If they won't answer, I hope the pic at least gets to them. *crosses fingers*
