Not quite sure what to say, except for *OUCH*

So a new first for me today: I was struck by a car while I was crossing the street near my place to catch a bus.

At first, I thought he was just slow in stopping. I hand-slapped his hood and tried to move out of the way. But his car kept coming, and I took a fairly nasty spill. I saw my bag go one way (with my laptop in it, no less) and felt myself move another. I was off the ground, and then I landed. I managed to control my fall, mostly. (Still think Aikido has no real world applications?)

I lay there for a while; the police came, and took statements from myself, the driver (who stayed, thankfully), and a few witnesses who stayed at the scene to assist. Then the fire department came, followed quickly by an ambulance. I ended up at the emergency room where I got x-rayed and had a nasty contusion looked at. (It's on ice, but I'm fairly sure it's swelling up again right now.)

The long and short of it is, I'm OK. I lost a day of work today, and likely tomorrow; if I'm stiff as a board, as I expect, then I'll take tomorrow off, too. Right now, I'm thankful that it wasn't worse than it is.
