Over 20 Anime Premieres this Summer
Summer has never been a big time for new anime series to start up. That's why this summer will only see about half as many premiers as the spring season had. Still, it's about the same amount that we had last summer, & twenty-something is still a good amount. & the list is still growing at that, though it's unlikely to climb into the 30s at this point (the the list is over 30 if you add in all the OVAs & movies, though).
Perhaps the most anticipated new series for the summer is Slayers Revolution, the first new Slayers series in over 10 years. That's one series that just can't come fast enough, & I for one can't wait. Two other shows getting new seasons this summer are IkkiTousen & the Familiar of Zero, both of which had earlier series here on NebsTV. There's also a new series from the creators of IkkiTousen debuting this summer as well. Based on the manga of the same name, "Sekirei" is another girls-fighting-girls fan-service series that's shaping up to be just as ecchi as its predecessor.
The third season of School Rumble is another highly anticipated release, although that's only a short OVA series instead of an actual television series. Speaking of OVAs, the second Mai-Otome 0~S.ifr~ OVA episode will finally be coming out this July (we'll have the first one up on the site soon), & August will see the release of a new Negima OVA series. & of course, let's not forget that the Lucky Star OVA will be coming out this summer as well.
Summer also means it's the time for a new Pokemon movie in Japanese theaters. The newest Diamond & Pearl movie, Giratina & the Sky's Bouquet, will be hitting screens on July 19. The complete current list of shows & known air-dates for them can be seen below:
