One Piece Won't Return to Toonami?

Earlier this month, Toonami finished airing the "first season" of FUNimation's new One Piece dub, & replaced the series once the new episodes came to an end. Well now word comes out that Cartoon Network has recently confirmed that they have no plans to return One Piece to their schedule in the foreseeable future. Neither new episodes or reruns are currently planned to air on their network. Currently, reruns of the series only air on Toonami Jetstream. The odd part about all of this is that Funi has been talking about how successful their new episodes have been, & just this week at Sakura-Con they said that new episodes would eventually return.

Last week, One Piece was replaced with Bakugan at 10pm, with Blue Dragon joining the lineup at 10:30 the following week. But in typical Cartoon Network style, they changed their schedule at the last minute once again. Blue Dragon now airs at 10:00, with the unsuspecting return of Samurai Jack at 10:30. Williams Street originally planned to re-air the now classic series on their Adult Swim block, so it's weird to see the series suddenly reappear on Toonami for no real apparent reason. There are plenty of other series they could've shown instead. As for Bakugan's sudden disappearance from the block, it must've done real bad in the ratings for them to move it after only one week. Perhaps this might change Cartoon Network's mind about One Piece? One can only hope.
