Tons of Toonami Tidbits

May 16, 2007 22:02

As many are already aware, a pseudo Naruto-thon is scheduled to air this Saturday on Toonami. Starting at 5pm (Eastern/Pacific), 2 hours of some of the more recent Naruto reruns will air on Cartoon Network. Then at 7pm when Toonami officially begins, they'll be showing the Naruto OVA Special "Mission: Protect the Waterfall Village" for the first time. Another Naruto rerun, a new episode of Naruto, & a repeat of the OVA will also be apart of the block that night. New episodes of Bo-Bobo & One Piece will be sprinkled into the mix as well. The complete schedule:

5PM - Eye to Eye: Sharingan vs. Sharingan
5:30PM - Jiraiya: Naruto's Potential Disaster
6PM - Roar, Chidori: Brother vs. Brother
6:30PM - Hate Among the Uchihas: The Last of the Clan
7.0PM - Naruto OVA (Mission: Protect the Waterfall Village)
8.0PM - Naruto (A New Training Begins: I Will Be Strong)
8.5PM - Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (Enemy Cruisin' For a Bruisin'? Then Just Try Fusion)
9.0PM - Naruto (Focal Point: The Mark of the Leaf)
9.5PM - One Piece (Live and Let Dry)
10.0PM - Naruto OVA (Mission: Protect the Waterfall Village)

There wont be any Toonami on June 2, as a non-stop Pokemon marathon will be airing that entire weekend (Adult Swim will still air, however). Then the following week on June 9th, Toonami will be back with the return of the updated Fantastic Four cartoon series. Toonami quickly canceled the series after a few episodes when it first aired last year, but are now probably putting it back on the air because of the new movie coming out soon. No word yet on whether or not they'll be new eps or repeats of the ones they already showed, but it was also reported that the series got renewed for a second season of another 26 episodes. Pretty weird considering the series was probably originally removed due to low ratings.

Speaking of cartoon movie tie-ins, Cartoon Network is set to premier an all new Transformers cartoon this Fall entitled "Transformers: Animated." When "Transformers: Cybertron" ended, it marked the first time in a decade that new episodes of a Transformers series weren't scheduled to air. Not since Beast Wars began in 1996 has there been a period of no new Transformers in America. In addition to that, "Animated" will be the first American-made Transformers series since the "Beast Wars" sequel series "Beast Machines." In fact "Animated" will be written by Marty Isenberg, one of the top writers on "Beast Machines." There's no actual word yet as to where on Cartoon Network the new series will air, but Toonami seems like a good bet to take.

Finally, a special tournament has been announced for street skaters called "Toonami Klik." Toonami will be traveling across the country this summer & hold tournaments in several cities to find the best skaters. The top 3 from each area will be flown to Los Angeles to compete in the main tournament. The results of each competition will be posted online at Toonami Jetstream. More information can be found here.
