No, not all gun control arguments reek of White Middle Class Privilege. In fact, there are efforts being made in black neighborhoods here in Pittsburgh and other cities around the country to control the sale, distribution, and ownership of guns.

Probably a futile effort as I suspect the majority of guns in the Inner City are in the hands of drug dealers and gang members.

They often get into the hands of drug dealers and gang members, but frequently they're stolen from older family members who had them around for supposed protection from drug dealers and gang members, but then their kids and grandkids get hold of them, quite often because they get into drug dealing and gangs, themselves. It's a vicious cycle. I've had at least a dozen or so students who've had family members killed due to those kinds of unauthorized transfers of ownership, and one who can't use her right arm very well because she was sitting on her front porch when a drive-by shooting happened to include her. Seriously, I'm not worrying much about my own skin when I support gun control or even much about the idea of another massive shooting like the one of this past Friday. Nearly every day in my city, someone dies from gunshot wounds, seldom anyone I'm likely to know well, and it's highly unlikely it will ever be me, my wife, or my son. I'm pretty extreme, and would support banning the manufacture of all firearms for non-military and

I freely admit to my fascist leanings. After all, if people would just let me run things, we'd all be so much better off! I know, it's a hold over from my days as an intellectually elite right winger and Exceptional Woman (tm).

So yes, I don't think men, of any color, age or station, should have access to guns. They have repeatedly proven themselves too unstable to be trusted with such dangerous instruments.
