The Day After

~First things first: I do not live my life to make anyone else happy. That's called Codependance and it is a Mental Illness. If you have a problem with that you can get the fuck off my Flist right now ( Read more... )

You did what you needed to do and that is more important than forcing yourself to do something and maybe getting in an accident or making yourself unwell. Anyone who can't cope with that hasn't been paying attention.

It wasn't. You encouraged me to vote, but did not brow beat me. I acknowledge that. =)

Well I'm not going anywhere unless you take me off your list.

You gotta do what you gotta do, but I personally believe if you agree with even one candidate or motion you vote. But that's what I expect of myself, and I shouldn't force that on anyone else. I apologize if I offended you.

I'm just very frustrated that it's gonna pass.

Neb, I could care fucking less that you didn't vote for Obama. Obama won, with or without you. About 50% of my friends voted third party, and I respect them even more for doing so.

You stayed at home and bitched about your own self-important ass after preaching for years and years about the importance of gay rights, women's rights, animal rights, etc. You completely blew off Propositions 2, 4, and 8. And Prop 8 passed, by a slim margin, a difference of about 504,000 votes.

I don't give a flying fuck about your view of the electoral process. If you think it's bullshit, good for you, and frankly, I agree. But you went back on your word here. Even worse, your otiosity validated other people's apathy. It's sad to see such lackadaisical folks be swayed even further by your frivolity ( ... )

What word did I go back upon? I never promised you or anyone else for that matter what I would do on Nov 4th. If you had actually paid attention, you would have seen my profound ambivalence.

In the end, I had to be true to myself. And if you cannot be true to yourself, then you're nothing at all.

I'll let others speak for me here:

And as for supporting Prop 8, your new pal auntiesiannan? She is the author of this lovely statement, "I think most of us would rather die a lingering AIDS related death than live in a world where anyone takes you seriously." The subconscious homophobia in that runs very deep.

That you make common cause with her shows how blind you have become.

Honey,

As I said in the last post, I was here and witnessed what you went through, and as a fellow Empath, not only can I understand how it was overwhelming for you, but hell, I felt your stressed-out attitude. It put me in bed for a few extra hours.

Some folks have to realize that not everyone is so heavily invested. Some folks have to realize that you have definite - and good - reasons for believing the electoral process isn't worth much, anymore. In fact, if folks who were bedazzled by Obama had bothered to take a few steps back and look it would've become obvious that the entire process is orchestrated. It's become that obvious over the last 8 years. As I said to one fellow who left your flist, there hasn't been a multi-party system, ever, and there hasn't been a two-party system for a very long time. It's one party - whichever factions of the Oligarchy are able to unite and "guide" things in the direction they desire. It's too easy to forget that Gore and Kerry both won the popular vote and yet weren't allowed to be ( ... )
