To those who have given me shit about Prop 8, grow the fuck up! If you think its passing or not passing is going to settle the issue of Gay Marriage, you're deluding yourself. [btw as of this typing, it's still in play]
This is a Culture War battle that's going to go on for another fifteen to twenty years as the older generation that fears Gay Marriage is displaced by younger, more tolerant voters. And a large number of said 'older generation' are the same church going Black voters who supported Obama.
Homophobia runs deep in Black America, driven largely by the castration fear of Black Males, one that I understand while deploring. Many a Black man had his cock and balls cut off when lynched. But they will be the ones who will put it over the top.
If Prop 8 fails, its sponsors will put it back on the ballot and we'll go through that any again in a year or two.
If it passes, some of them will go after the 18,700 Gay Marriages presently on the books, no matter what Jerry Brown says, because those will in fact run contrary to state law.
One way or another, this battle will continue.
So me following my own conscience yesterday did not really effect the outcome. It does however effect my own sense of Authenticity. If that offends your personal agenda, tough shit. Leave.
I will not be dictated to here or anywhere else by anyone.
As for Obama getting elected...good. As I said before, that gives us some breathing room. But those of you who treat him as a Savior, you are fooling yourselves.
His most likely Chief of Staff pick is Rahm Emanuel, a Right of Center AIPAC shill and a member of the New Democrat Coalition, a 'Repug Lite' Corporatist group founded by fucking Joe Lieberman!
