Dossier update

I've updated the Dossier with sa3466996's S1 and S2 info. Thank you so much for that! sa3466996's S1 and especially S2 notes are richly detailed, with lots of context and dialogue. *hangs head in shame at my paltry notes for S3 ( Read more... )

Hey it was 'just' research... *cough* can't help it if I liked it!

Off to look at team-NCIS now. Need to do a bit more 'research' into the G/T slap dynamic *grins*

You're entirely too humble! *g* but don't let me keep you from further "research" LOL!

WOW - that dossier is SUPERB! I love it! Just read through it chuckling to myself. Hee! Tony really does get hit, elbowed and generally abused *a lot*. I like it *ggg*. And he does (mostly) deserve it although Kate is a bit tough on him. I agree re the "Gibbs relents" comment! It's so true - Tony wants and needs the slaps and feels pouty if Gibbs doesn't deliver them!

I'm glad you like it! It's certainly taken a leap and a bound with sa3466996's great input. I've just gone through all those vids mentioned above for S1 and 2 and added even more myself.

Yes, Tony really does end up on the receiving end of a lot of "workplace violence" *g* Poor lamb! but Tony whump is such fun!

And he deserves it and he does kind of like it!

That's such a brilliant site! And will enable us to do a "favourite headslap" poll quite easily *g*. Well done for finding it!

Yes, it's a good site, isn't it? very well organised! And especially good because the downloads are sans subtitles.

I'm thinking I might reupload them somewhere for anyone who wants the .flv files without the subs.

... with the favourite headslap poll ... there are just so MANY! Maybe we should string out the fun and do it by seasons first, and then do a grand poll after we've been through them? Not that we would actually eliminate any from nominations in the end poll ... but it would give us time to study them in depth! LOL! Any thoughts on that?

I'm off to bed now ...

Oh yes - a headslaps by season poll would be great! Although poor S6 *shakes head*. Well, there are hardly enough to make a poll out of there! (*sob*)

Yes, true about S6. I'm holding onto hope some will happen yet, but we may have to throw 6 in with 5.

Hmm - looking at that site, it would appear the slaps start slow in S1, pick up in S2, become positively rampant in S3, slow down a little in S4, a bit more in S5 and become almost non-existent in S6....

S3 is definitely the high point for the headslap! S3 and S2 are my favourite seasons so I'm sensing a pattern here *g*.

*nods* There's definitely a statistical significance there! *g* S3 is a crest of the tsunami!

It's no accident that practically 99.9% of the eps I kept for making your icon were from s3. I seem to have the impression too that Gibbs smiles more in that season than any other.

Have you noticed how the slaps in Season 1 seem to be more forceful than those in the later Seasons? Hinting maybe that the some of the early ones were more 'wake up' and the later ones more 'affectionate'?

Why do you think Gibbs hasn't slapped any of them yet in S6?

You're right about the way they changed. They definitely became more affectionate from S1.

I guess there are any number of possibilities as to why they've decreased. Do you mean in character, or from the cast, writing and production angle?

As a character, Gibbs has been a harder and colder character this season. He has hardly smiled at all compared to the many (for him) smiles he gives in S3. Jenny and he went a long way back, so maybe that's knocked the stuffing out of him? But I personally don't think that's been carried in the eps in any way. No would know that from observing him.

From a show production perspective, I don't know much about the background of the show, the writers, who might be making those decisions or even if there is pressure to PC-up after that "violence in the workplace" ep. Maybe the cast are not inspired by the scripts they are getting, maybe they are tired of doing it and don't want to get into a rut, but I could spout any number of wild ideas as to why, and still be completely wide of the mark *g*

Heh! I've been thinking more about why Gibbs hasn't slapped them so much since S3 and my slashy little heart believes that it must be connected to Gibbs resigning - he left NCIS in anger, and it was very knee jerk - amazingly uncool, uncalm and uncollected for Gibbs and he FEELS he's compromised his own sense of fidelity to his team and Tony - not so much on the job side, but more in a personal way. Then with Tony holding the band together over the time of his absence, and doing a good job, I think Gibbs feels he's thrown something precious away and doesn't know how to get it back. I would love to read some fic with a walled up and suffering Gibbs and have Tony helping him back to a pre-resignation, emotional rapport, with Tony especially.

Good angle.

'I think Gibbs feels he's thrown something precious away and doesn't know how to get it back' - I like that.

'I would love to read some fic with a walled up and suffering Gibbs and have Tony helping him back to a pre-resignation, emotional rapport, with Tony especially.' - ooh that would be great. Tony's done it before, he can do it again.
