I can't wait for season 2! Your Kyle Hobbes icon is to die for. Well, all your icons are amazing but the fact that its Kyle Hobbes gives it a bit of an edge over the others :D
It was interesting to read about your inspiration. Great post all around!
Hobbes tight black tee and badassery are undeniable and 10X better than any icon I can ever make, lol
Thanks :) I hope it was. When I started looking at icons people were making and they weren't explaining I felt like a doof for writing as much as I did.
Yea I guess Hobbes in his tight black tee is better than most things that exist.
Oh and I'm guessing you just like to make your own screencaps so you can get exactly what you want from the scenes? But if you're just looking for HD quality V screencaps there is a good gallery
The nose rule! My golden rule, lol. The first icon is sexy! Yes! I was afraid it would be too dark or too red to see that appeal, but I'm glad it shows.
There are many factors that bias me into loving V. It has it's flaws but it picks up and doesn't stop in the back half. So if you watch it and get weary, DON'T!
SO WHAT YOU EXPLAINED THEM ALL?? Now I feel bad.. :/
Okay, first of all, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the 1st one. I have absolutely no idea how you did it, but it's amazing. It kinda reminds me of this kinda of style, which I've always loved but never been able to do. DAMN YOU! :P only joking. but seriously, amazing.
I also love the larger version of the last in the texture category. Brilliant.
Those photos made me get out of my iconing shell. I wanted to emanate that boldness and I liked that I could do it. I was always afraid of going that extreme and now that fear's not there. So now I'm not closed to the idea of making icons that dark. SO THANKS. My first foray into such style got a thumbs up from one of my favorite icon makers! FUCKYES!
The set is one of my favorites. I use it every single time I open photoshop.
That's great. I can't wait to read what you have to write. THIS COMMUNITY SPREADING THE ICON JOY ALL 'ROUND :D
I'm going to definitely work on that. Except it took much longer to get those first icons anywhere near a way I liked. I usually get fed up if I spend longer than 20 minutes on an icon, lol. Those took a collective, what? Two and a half hours. THAT'S INSANE.
Writing break number two and I come to do an lj check. OMG THIS POST. <3 <3 <3 I don't have time to read it all rn -- um, i love the fact you went in depth. wordiness about arts/graphics i so get. wordiness about V i DEFINITELY get. -- but that's what writing break for the night is for!!
Okay, I can see what you wrote of 19 and 20. ~procrastinate. 20: LOL, ILY. SUBTLE. I flove red sky. :D :D :D, 19: variations are my enemies. Sometimes I make so many of one icon/graphic and sometimes I hate them all, but worse of all sometimes I love them. CHOOSING. IS. HARD.
:D SO GLAD I GOT YOU HERE ~writing breaks for the win~
For realz, hahaha! A Red Sky icon of the red sky for the prompt Red. MY OWN GENIUS ASTOUNDS ME, it really does. Variations are okaaaay for me, sometimes. Because when I make enough (and usually that's no more than two or three, the most I'll ever make is ten variations) I find the one I like the most and scrap the rest. BUT #19 IS A TERRIBLE STORY. I could not figure that icon out and when I finally got that little itty bitty thing? I WAS SO RELIEVED.

I like making my own screencaps and prefer them to HD. The quality is different but it's not any less than the HD caps. At least not to me.

I definitely think you should kick on with that boldness, because with the right cap, right crop, it looks brilliant.
