ARgh!! Please disregard my prior comment. I had more than one tab open and my comment was meant for someone on my friends list who was talking about the snow storm they've gotten.

Er, as far as your rug goes--I'm not sure what to suggest, other than to keep doing what you're doing, which is airing it out while it's unrolled. Maybe you could also sprinkle some baking soda onto it and vacuum it up after a few hours. The only other thing I can think to do is use a rug cleaner on it with a vinegar and water mix.

second the baking soda idea. you have to use a ton of it (not just "sprinkled"), and leave it there for a while.

Try activated charcoal? That's better than baking soda at absorbing stuff.

Or, a mixture of vodka and water, sprayed on, might help- it's a way to de-scent clothing when the fabrics aren't washable.
