Yummy yogurt

What are your favorite ways to flavor and eat yogurt that don't involve adding any sugars? After my antibiotics, I'm now having issues with YIs and thrush and so I'm trying to eat as much yogurt as possible in addition to the prescription antifungals.
If I use yogurt in a soup or curry that is cooked, will I still get probiotic benefits? I don't ( Read more... )

I like to use plain greek yogurt in place of sour cream on top of enchiladas or scrambled eggs.

This is good on baked potatoes, too, and in place sour cream in guacamole.

I love plain yogurt with salt, dill, and garlic as a veggie dip or just with a spoon, frankly:)

You'd need to eat a LOT of yogurt if you're using that to supplement probiotics after a course of antibiotics. You're far better off getting capsulated probiotics. The good ones will be kept refrigerated at your local natural food store or wherever you buy your supplements.

In answer to your question, no, you will not get the probiotic effects from yogurt if you cook it. Those are live cultures and cooking them kills them.

Thirding this. Probiotic capsules are definitely the way to go if you want to truly feel the benefits.

Fourthing this. (Is "fourthing" even a word??? Hah!) But yeah - encapsulated probiotics is always the way to replenish after a round of antibiotics.

Too bad the docs don't tell people this.

My doctor (naturopath) wants me eating tons of yogurt in general, she thinks my colonies aren't what they should be, and she also suggested kefir and kombucha as other good sources of "good bugs".

No ideas on yogurt flavoring beyond blending in fresh fruit, sorry.
