dental procedure

Oct 14, 2008 13:50

I am having a dental procedure done next Monday and I won't be able to eat any solid foods for at least 5-7 days. I know it is really important to still get my nutrients so I heal as quick as possible. So far I plan on oatmeal, applesauce, all kinds of tea, soup ( Read more... )

I love Bolthouse Farms drinks. Tons of nutrition.

I feel for you - I had 4 wisdom teeth plus 2 others removed last year!

I had my wisdom teeth out last month. I found that I was able to pretty much have all the foods I normally have (as long as they weren't crunchy), but that I had to cut it/mash it/blend it so that it was really, really small pieces, and then basically wash it down with water. So it was this really awkward mash it all up/little bits of chewing with the front teeth/push it to the back/wash it down procedure. The good part is that doing it that way means that nothing touched the holes, and bad part is that it takes a long, long time to eat.

Hopefully that helps a little--I don't really have any specific suggestions.

Have you ever had any of those? They don't particularly contain much 'food' per se, but they will give you energy and have some decent amounts of probiotic stuff in there and b vitamins. I like the Gingeraide flavor best. No sugar or extra flavorings or any type of bad stuff.

Maybe bread and hummus or guacamole? Yogurt? You could make lots of vegetable soup or something.

green smoothies would be good. You mix the greens with fruit, ice, and water or milk (can be soy/almond/rice milk if you don't do dairy). My favorite is spinnach and banana. Sounds yuky but it's really good. I also do banana and strawberry which is really good.

There are some great recipes online.

Mashed avocados with dijon mustard, honey and lime juice! I ate that a lot when I got my jaw surgery.

That sounds incredible. I must give it a try. (I love mashed avocado with garlic, dash of salt, dash of cayenne, and lemon or lime juice.)
