Love the colors. Reminds me of a Russian lacquer box. I think her face looks fine. The details on the dress and jewelry and wonderful. If I were to think anything could use a bit more attention--it would maybe be a little more rendering of her hair. But that's it. I think it's a nice painting.

I showed Paul and he said "I'd buy it, for two reasons: one being the phoenix and two being the renaissance girl." He also had a few suggestions (a couple might only be do-able in a graphics program): tilt her hand (normally, in falconry, that hand is horizontal unless holding onto the bird itself or a tether) or add a tether; shift the girl's gaze (which isn't consistent --- the eyes aren't quite looking in the same direction) to being at the bird (unless you add something to the background to give the impression that something behind her is distracting/worrying her); and maybe alter the color of the headdress (actually the drape on the back) to match the main color of the dress. Her face is fine --- it might be that shadow on her neck isn't quite right --- it's dark and flat.

I love the colors and the way you did the textiles on the painting. The composition reminds me of a portrait done during the renaissance.

Check your @mail. Evan wrote you a highly cool letter that I actually spent a half hour researching. ;) (So proud of myself!)
