35 degrees at 7:30 AM in Houston in early December! Wow. I have lived in Boston and New Mexico so I know it's not REALLY cold. But for Houston, this is pretty impressive.

Hooray! Most amazing moment in watching election coverage: That amazing victory speech by Obama and seeing Oprah and Jesse Jackson crying in the crowd.

I'm not calling the election for anyone, but it is amazing to see this day has come. What a gigantic day for everyone in the world regardless of the outcome. Really congratulations to everyone!

For a couple days now, people have been mentioning the lack of coverage of Ike around here. Also a friend of mine in Thailand has been trying to get news of his family and was pretty frustrated at the lack of coverage by news organizations. So we are alive in Austin. We had the most horrific night. Our neighborhood is fried. It seems that people in Clear Lake didn't even get hit as bad as we did. It's weird. I know that the best thing to do is to sit in my home while Ike goes over. We are 50 miles inland. And to tell the truth, after Rita, I decided that it should be against the law for people inland to be on the freeway when people under a mandatory evacuation order are on the freeways.
