My own highlights of Convergence 13

I can't be bothered to actually try to make a narrative of this stuff. Deal...

- Friday afternoon: As we were wandering down toward the vending area in the early afternoon, I was enchanted to find Zoe Keating playing the last 10 minutes of her set. Good Lord, she's amazing. I was really bummed that we missed ( Read more... )

Man... I wish I could've been there! =(

Glad to see you had fun! And I'm very jealous of those awesome Falls you have. I need to acquire myself a set.

It would have been cool to see you there. We'll be down in So. Cal. again, sooner or later, I'm sure. You can check out the falls in person when we do. :)

And if you're interested, they were made by carpe_jugulum. Check out her work at http://www.exoskeletoncabaret.com.

Thank you! I'm quite partial to it myself!

I figured that since I don't use my electric violin anymore, I should quit using that old icon.

Have you seen/heard The Last Dance before? If not, you're in for a huge treat. They are awesome!

And yeah, that whole raccoon thing was quite the surprise. I wasn't sure if it's motivations were hostile or amorous...

nope, haven't seen them before! hopefully i won't chicken out and try to leave early since it's a work night. will try to stick around for a few songs at the very least.. the band i want to see is supposed to be first, then i was thinking to catch some Taufactor.. but if you say that The Last Dance is good, i'll make an effort to stay as late as i can...

Sounds like you all had a good time! I loved the photos of the group of you busking - much fun. Also jealous you get to see The Last Dance. :)

If all is right in the world, Paul and I and whoever else will be doing the busking thing at Dragoncon. We're still waiting to hear from the Dragoncon folks one way or another so it's not yet as definite as I'd like.

Most of the musicians and guests I know that have applied to Dragon this year are still waiting on confirmations. They are really dragging their feet this year, which is strange since this promises to be an even higher-attended D*C than last year. I don't know what's up. Either way I will be there, I just hope staff is ready!

I look forward to much musical fun and madness in 73 days! :D

Hell, I'm contemplating going whether or not we get invited back to play. I had such a good time last year.

The street performance was quite possibly my favourite moment of the entire weekend, and that kind of says something. The looks on people's faces when they passed ... priceless.

It was fabulous seeing you again, though. It's always a pleasure.

(And thanks again for the CDs. You are made of win, in so many ways.)

It was really nice seeing you and having time to talk in Portland. I totally agree with you about the passersby on that Sunday morning. That kind of random musical experience is usually the best kind. When you least expect to find something unique is when it's most rewarding.

I've had moments like that where I'm wandering through Seattle, turn the corner and find some busker playing stuff that's just amazing.
