On Mandated Childcare & Public Education

According to Dr. Laura and USA Today, Daycare Services may be the next industry in need of a bail-out (or worse, mandated use). To fight low enrollment, daycare workers are lashing out at parents who are pulling their children out of their facilities.

[I can't fathom how this sort of thinking has actually become acceptable and rational, but it really frightens me. As a new parent, more aware of what's at stake for my own child's future, I am disgusted by these philosophies. I will do everything that's within my power to fight them.]

I couldn't agree more. I feel the same way about home-birthing options. There are people in high places trying to take away that option too. Did you know that?

I had a co-worker start to ask me this question the other day "Should government..."

I stopped him and explained that it has been my observation that there is not really anything that government does well, so any question that begins with "should government..." the answer is almost always going to be no, no they should not.
