Fundraising for Ingrid's Haven

Jan 13, 2008 18:55

We just got back from dropping off Bonnie and her kittens at Ingrids Haven. Ingrid normally never takes cats from the general public but I begged and pleaded and she caved in. Bonnie had been dumped on my friends by an uncaring relative who didn't want her any more, and she turned out to be pregnant. The owner kept saying he'd do something about ( Read more... )

Is this your famous "Cat Lady"?

I am totally going to donate. Wow. Poor Bonnie - only a year old and having babies already! Why don't people desex their cats?

I think I will acquire my next cat from Ingrid.

Yes this is the famous "cat lady". She's awesome! People don't desex their cats for many reasons. There is the old myth that you don't do it till they're six months old, that it's better for female cats to have a litter first (absolute bunkum btw) and sometimes, they are either poor or ignorant. What I would like to see is the law changed that anyone selling or giving companion animals away bears the responsibility of getting them desexed, or face some serious fines and possible jail time. That would stop the pet shops for starters, and might slow down people who are giving kittens away.
I'm definitely getting my next cat from Ingrid. I love my fluffies, i really do but I do love purebred moggies a lot!

Ziggy is getting knackered in February. Mark is having scrotum separation anxiety, hahaha

I read the poem on Ingrid's site and it made my cry so I had to go and hug Ziggy and he clawed me. That's what you get for loving your kitten!

Tell Mark that if Ziggy doesn't get done, he can clean up all the stinky cat spray. That should change his mind! Ziggy clawed you? Little beast that he is AWWWwwwwwrrrr.

did anyone tell the brother/brother's girlfriend where the cat is?

Oh yes, the owner happily signed over the rights to the cat and her kittens, he didn't want to deal with it.

Oh no, the ex-owner has full knowledge. He's been telling everyone but his brother that he was going to take the cat to the pound. So yes, the cat's no longer wanted. She's a cutie too, I would have taken her but the fluffies would make her life miserable. I know it's only 3 cats out of thousands that are destroyed, but at least it's something. Thank the gods for Ingrid, she puts herself on the line for animals all the time. That's why I'm doing some fundraising for her, it's a way to say thank you for bending her own rules and taking Bonnie.
