There's an area not so far from here where they also have those round stony cabins. You're right, northern Mediterranean (and even southern, in some areas of Maghreb) are so similar. I feel more at home when I'm looking at photos of Macedonia or Moroccan Rif than when I'm looking at Parisian landscapes.

It's an interesting experience to draw from memory and then go back to the real thing. You should try it! It's strange to see how the mind transforms shapes and remembers selective things. Also, when you first look at something knowing that you're going to draw it later it makes you look especially hard and it's a nice feeling.

I think that some of these houses are lower inside! But it might also depend on how people transformed the floors too, such as adding insulation.
