I get a tad frustrated that someone gets paid to discover this. Will this help solve world hunger? Maybe work towards some other vague goal of peace? Can't I just disregard research I find useless because I am human and limited? Can't I just demand that everyone quits their job to fix the world for me? ORZ <---this is getting too depressing! ahh I hope they don't keep me from doing that meme too some day >_

I am in favour of science and you never know when something will come in useful, but some of this more theoretical stuff (like string theory in particular) seems very silly to me. It even seems silly to my brother, and he's doing a PhD in physics and engineering XD;
