OMG. I love these glimpses into the day-to-day workings of the kingdom. Dispensing justice (and Edmund--those little bits of flashbacks were PERFECT) and doing the paperwork, plus the wars and the politics. I loved that there are still these sibling-y dynamics, with Susan mothering her siblings and Ed getting Lucy to eat her vegetables, Lucy worrying about her brother. Even though it was darker than what I usually read I was still TOTALLY ENTHRALLED, because there's so much room in Narnia for darkness, for growing up too fast and killing (because Aslan showed them how, yes).

"How do we know if we've changed?"

Lucy leant her shoulder against his, the weight slight but palpable. Her sigh was long and tired, this time. "We get older."

"Oh," said Edmund. "Is that all?"
AAAGH PEVENSIES TALKING THEIR PROBLEMS THROUGH. And this is such an interesting note to end on especially given the very end of LWW. Bookmarking this for sure!

It took me until this morning when I reread this to get what as going on with Edmund. Oh Edmund! And Susan, who can't have a broken heart, and Peter who is too old, and Lucy who wants to be a pirate!

Aw... I feel for all of them, especially Edmund of course.

I like your style here, where the plot is not a plot exactly but a theme and everything applies to it. It's not a perfect world, and bad things happen, but... at the end of the day, you have your brothers and your sisters and life goes on.

This is excellent. I loved reading about all the practical details of running the country, and I especially liked your Susan.
