New website, counting down...

One week until the official pub date! I have shared this information with virtually everyone who has exchanged two words with me over the last few days (possibly more than once, I can't be sure); and I have already failed to resist the temptation to start poking about in bookstores looking for an early copy.

The full-scale revamp of the TemeraireRead more... )

Hi there, I have been spreading the book around my office. So far three people have read it and loved it and there are about four others in line. I know that two of them have pre-orders in at the bookstore at the moment. One of my coworkers tried to steal my copy to give to her husband but i demanded it back since it was signed :)

I think you are going to have a HUGE hit on your hands with this one. At least my office and I do :)

Hi! Just wanted to let you know I've been a huge fan of your writing for a long time, so I bought Temeraire here in the UK as soon as I could - it had a fairly prominent spot at Blackwells and I just saw it at Waterstones the other day. Really, really enjoyed it - I'm at university, and haven't read a non-academic book that quickly in ages - and am currently recommending it to everyone I know as the Napoleonic dragon book. Very glad that you're getting all this acclaim and publicity - finally, to see a good writer well-publicized (*cough* Dan Brown).

I was going to ramble on a bit about what really appeals to me in your writing - which is, to put it briefly, the treatment of love - but I felt rather silly and fangirly, you don't even know me from Eve. In any case, I'll be rereading on rainy days (of which there are many here in Edinburgh!) and I'm really looking forward to the next books :)

Hey, thank you very much! And feel free to ramble on any time in any way -- I always find reader reactions incredibly encouraging and valuable, positive or critical.

Hiya!

I'm an Aussie fangirl who loved the first book and can't wait for the second. I love your dragons, and the book had me laughing and crying in turns. You've done wonderfully.

I'll have to see if I can get together a group of people on this side of the country who want bookplates (if anyone here wants to join up with me, I don't mind paying the excess postage over here to distribute them).
Actually, I love the product placement in the photos on the Fantastic Planet site... *grins*

I hadn't even noticed those pics until you mentioned it, hee! Except hey, now I want one of those stands. For my house! It would be so stylish, in that 'immensely egotistical' way. *g*

The website looks fabby. My one crit is that the link to your livejournal is hard to find.

Glad you enjoyed Otto's as much as we do. Isn't Dennis ace?

That HSBC cab driver was wonderful turns out he used to work for a big children's bookstore in Chicago and go to all the kid's books fairs. Eerie.

Congrats on the imminent publication!

Oh, excellent point -- *fixes* -- and Dennis was amazing, as was the whole place. And I just devoured Magic Lessons yesterday -- it went by way too fast. :( When is book 3?

Also: please inform Scott, OH THANKS A LOT, as I am now convinced I am infected with mind-controlling parasites. meep.

Glad you liked it. Book 3 is out this time next year. But if you're good and front me with your books (SOON! I'm dying here!) I'll get you an ARC when they're ready. How's that for a deal?

What can I say? Scott is evil. But if you have a cat then, yes, you are infected with mind-controlling parasites. Sorry. Though I hear they all make you do stuff you already want to do.

What? It's coming out in a week? I am confused. I bought my copy a month ago, and my local Borders in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, had four copies in total on its shelf!

And I have been meaning to send you feedback but... but... *hides in shame* But I will!!!!

Just one mini-fb: t'h read the beginning on the loo yesterday (yes, I'm afraid that is where the book resideth at the moment...) and said, 'Hey, this is really good, this is like that guy who wrote those books and then they made a film out of them with whatsisname in it; it's got a good atmosphere.'

*g* I, of course, found it impossibly slashy but I would. More anon! Really!!!
