You wouldn't want to mix baking soda with vinegar. They neutralize eachother -- vinegar is an acid and baking soda is basic.

I've been using white vinegar a lot lately. It's great for freshening the breath of my garberator and sink drains. They fill up with crud from dishwashing and it festers unless I dump some vinegar in once in a while.

I like the lemon juice idea, too.

Though baking soda and dishwater soap was used on one site as a cheap version of comet.

Have you tried Mrs. Meyers cleaning products? I get the big bottle that you dilute and it cleans almost everything, and smells good. Although, I had to quit using the gardenia scent when I was preg because it made me feel gaggy, and I still can't use it. The lemon verbena and lavender are nice. When you want something other than vinegar. HEB sells it, you'll either love or hate it.

Oh, ditto Mrs. Meyer's. I use nothing else now except for a tad bit of bleach on mildewy grout and my pitted porcelain sink. It smells sooooo good.

one of the best places to score this stuff is a commercial cleaning supply company. you don't even have to have a company :). you can get a lot better stuff a lot cheaper than the regular stores.

i used vinegar and water on my pergo for the longest time. these days, i mostly just use hot water, maybe put a few drops of tea tree oil in it for disinfectant...
