Oh Jack's made Ianto a selection tape, bless! (Hah, I knew I could find a way!) I think the culmination of this is so moving and lovely. I really like how Jack is so in character with his new recruit, it's like when Gwen joined and we see him take her outside to see the dawn, to encourage her not to lose that wonder. I also like how you capture the fact of Ianto being incredibly knew, and clearly none of them have any concept of him at all, even to the extent of not getting his name.

:D Thanks for helping me with it. I've been rewatching a lot of the early eps on BBC America lately and I think much of what we saw with Gwen's early days would honestly be typical for all of them.

Ha ha I just noticed I wrote knew, instead of new. Great beta I am. I think you have a point there. If it weren't for the producers and their bizarre worship of Gwen and her unique point of view, despite the others being characterised as normal people, I think we would have got that point at the time.

Lois decided not to point that out to you. ;)

Spooky, but lovely. A lovely image to end on.

:) Thanks! There was a story I read when I first got into the fandom where Jack-as-Boe took the people he loved with him along as a song, and I think that influenced this story heavily.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's a beautiful story.

If it's pinging in your memory, it's probably the same one. :)

Great look at the pre-S1 team. I really liked your before-the-glove Suzie. Not insane, but the seeds were there. And everyone else came thru beautifully. Also, sort of neat that your song fic ended on a song *grin*.

Loved the whole alien swan song segment actually. It's huge and wonderful and heartbreaking all at the same time. The tie in to Jack really worked, both his remembrance of the song from his own history, and to his current existence.

I think Suzie got a raw deal in the canon, sadly. I don't write about her much, but she's so much fun to explore.

Glad you liked the story!

What a lovely piece of work. It's so revealing of how Ianto must have been in his early TW3 days, but the details about the others are telling as well. Even Jack, although he's more opaque here than anyone else. And then the Jaronnites just sort of overwhelm everything and everyone for a brief moment, and their story would seem to have a lesson for the team if they could just figure it out. It's tragic to feel the effects of that fade away - but at least they fade slower for Ianto.

Thanks. :) The image of the team listening to the message was really what drove the story for me, so I'm glad the build up to that worked.
