Kid knows what dance to get her attention with, that's sure. Might not know it, up with his brain, but yeah, he knows. She's been a long time without a dance partner, too--last one was some leggy bastard with a soldier's shoulders and a set of 'locks that marked him rider-kin. He and t'Captain didn't get along, and she let the leggy bastard go.
Makes me wonder what hold the Captain's really got on her; it's not just that she was his sergeant, a few years ago. Really makes me wonder if she knows, even. But he's got one, sure as I've got two eyes, and Thunderer, she doesn't pounce the kid soon I'm going t'have to pick a damned fight just to keep his eye off 'em.
We can use a rider. One of the real ones, not the poor dance us three make in the saddle. Horse'll work for us--'specially for t'Captain--but hell, she sits up and sings for the kid.
