HL/RSL RPS Recap
A/N:
This final installment grew into a novella without telling me first. It’s one of the reasons it has taken me-and I apologize for the wait-three months to finish it. I am not a procrastinator but rather a very anal perfectionist. In either case a person takes forever to get stuff done. The only difference is that I am claiming good intentions.
I’m still about three chapters away from finishing it completely. But because I am posting one chapter a day, I have to start now before the end of June and I leave for a two-week cross-country road trip, when I sadly will be away from any internet connection. I don’t want to make readers of the series wait any longer for a conclusion. So I begin posting now and dedicatedly writing the rest.
I took small liberties with the dates of the Charity T-shirt event and Lewis Black’s Carnegie Hall performance, but it was important that both fit into this universe.
Thanks to purrlidot for storyline consultations; and to asynca, who accepts my random lj disappearances. Again, I can only claim good intentions. (And as soon as I finish writing Eikasia, I’m heading straight to Eggshells!)
RECAP:
In the “RL” of this universe:
Reasons, 8/8: With House/Wilson in the show as a catalyst, Hugh and Robert explore a relationship together. They kiss, share sleeping arrangements for a night, and single-handedly save H/W from being written off the show, but they don’t have sex. Hugh learns Robert had previously lived with a man for ten years. The relationship ended when his partner was killed in a bus accident. Lisa also knows about Robert’s past relationship. Hugh and Robert agree to end it when they return from holiday break.

Surface: After returning from Labor Day weekend, Hugh and Robert try to end their attraction to one another while having to act out intimate H/W scenes.

Break, 3/3: Robert admits he’s hinted to Gaby that he’s interested in Hugh. Hugh admits he wants some sort of commitment to Robert as well, but feels torn as to how to balance that with his family back home. The tense atmosphere reaches its peak when Robert challenges Hugh to sleep with him. They have sex for the first time.

Agape, Eros, Philos, 2/2: Hugh and Robert start slipping up in their dialogue as H/W and their off-camera relationship continue to overlap. Lisa suspects they’re sleeping together. Hugh moves in with Robert and calls Stephen for advice.

Of Time and Place, 2/2: Hugh grows more comfortable living with Robert in his Santa Monica apartment, and Lisa gets confirmation that the men are having an affair when Robert tells her. Hugh feels guilty over Robert’s approaching wedding in the spring, and still has a lingering curiosity about Robert’s first male lover. Stephen shows up on the front porch for a surprise visit.

Violet, 2/2: Hugh uncomfortably must reconcile Stephen and Robert-representatives of his two lives-being in the same place at the same time. Robert tells Hugh he’s broken off his engagement to Gaby. Hugh, upset that Robert would throw that away, looks to Stephen for advice. Hugh and Robert reconcile with lighted candles Stephen has left, and Hugh lets Robert top for the first time.

Acceptance Speech: Hugh wins a Golden Globe and specifically thanks Robert Sean Leonard, because “I can’t remember why; he did give me a reason.”

Fight or Flight: Stephen guest-stars in an episode and stays the week in LA with Hugh and Robert. Robert incrementally pushes Hugh to show more commitment towards him, but Hugh draws the line at sharing an apartment in NYC for the summer. His conscience finally ruffled to the brink, he rises in the middle of the night with intentions to call Jo.

Season Three in this universe:
House, previously shot by a nondescript madman (who dies of complications after being shot), recovers and the ketamine treatment works temporarily.
House gives Cuddy a sperm donation that does not take.
Wilson kisses House.
House’s apartment pipes burst. He consequently moves in with Wilson, a temporary living arrangement that becomes more permanent.
Foreman re-evaluates his professional options and considers leaving.
Cameron finds out about House/Wilson. Cuddy has already known.
Wilson gives Cuddy a donation, which takes.
Stephen Fry guest-stars for an episode.
