They'd just sent him off when he got the owl, asking him to meet her at some ungodly hour of the night -- seriously, what could they talk about that couldn't wait until the next morning? If it was about that bloody attack, then, well, Colin didn't know what to say, as he fully supported the rebels' actions. Those bastards deserved it, with everything that had happened over the duration of the war.
Nonetheless, he showed up as asked, knocking on Naia's office door late that night.

But now she had to issue an order. Not yet. But she had to do it before the night was over. "I'm sorry about the hour," she started. "But I wanted to make sure I wasn't interrupting your dinner plans. Can I offer you a drink?" Naia gestured to a small bar set up in one corner of her not-too-large office. There were after dinner drinks there, the kind that were good with ice and conversation. Naia suspected he wouldn't take her up on the offer, but she needed to offer either way.
"How's Thomas settling into Hogwarts?" She inquired, glad to see him, to catch up on family gossip and news. Of all of the Mayfield cousins, she would have figured that she would have settled down with a family, but it was Colin. (There was no helping Max.)

"He's fine." Short but sweet -- he wasn't one for small talk, and besides, they weren't here for small talk, though secretly he hoped that there could be a re-sorting for second years, and that Thomas would get sorted out of Hufflepuff, but oh well. :So, what do you want?"

She moved back behind her desk, handed him his drink, and sat down. "I see you want to get to the point," she said. Leaning back in her chair, she looked him over. He was a good member of the Order, but in their informal ranking system of prestige and knowledge, she outranked him.
"You're aware of the attack by the Rebel Faction in the last week." This was a statement. She wanted to see his reaction.
