Nadia had a respectable fire going, and was warm and toasty in her alpaca wool poncho.

She also had some handwavily purchased bottle rockets and roman candles. Because fire of varying types was fun, and never, ever a bad idea. . . .

Yeah.

Now she needed her date.

Nadia had lights strung up on the wall over her bed, and a row of candles lit on her dresser. Those were the only lights in her room as she curled up in her blanket and listened to quiet, Spanish folk music.

It made for a cozy evening.

Nadia rushed straight back to her room after what had happened with Joxer.

It'd happened again. She didn't remember what she was thinking, but she was pretty sure she hadn't been seeing Joxer.

She felt nauseous as she stood, just inside her doorway, gasping for breath.

She really was losing it, wasn't she.

Nadia was sitting up against the wall with Furrball curled in her lap, the wool poncho finally set to one side, revealing the immobilizer in all its glory.

Jamie was right. The room did smell like gravy.

She was considering hunting down a cup of coffee, just to sit there and smell that instead.

Just two nights ago, Nadia had been leading Walter back to her room like this, and she'd been smiling and happy.

It was a marked difference from right now, when she was stressed, exhausted, and really nervous.

Somehow, she thought that pointing out that it wasn't like he'd never beaten the crap out of her wasn't going to help anything.

After being generally moody and probably not terribly fun to be around in the common room, Nadia decided that curling up around a pillow sounded better than getting more lectures about violence and anger.

Of course, she then had to find out just why she was being such an unhappy moppet on her way.

The roof of Empire Records and Bidet had been . . . decorated. There were Chinese lantern string lights draped over the giant letters of the lit sign, with a picnic blanket set up with a fondue set on a tripod beneath it. They were going to "work" on the adventure story.

She was very, very glad she'd shown that to him.
