Actually, it turned out to be better than I expected. After Lordi, some countries thought that sending a ridiculous act would give them the award - none of them realized Lordi wasn't just a funny act, but a band

I personally wasn't too impressed with Norway. Yes, the guy had some presence on the stage, he could play an instrument and he'd also written the song himself, but there were better songs and performances. I just talked about this with my dad today and he said we seem to have a different taste in music than the rest of Europe. *LOL*
I was disappointed by the Spanish song. Wrote a bit about it in my journal. (Including wanting D'Nash back. XD)
Anyway, the highlight of the evening: Duncan James announcing the UK's voting. LMAO! He looked incredibly familiar, but I didn't recognise him until my German commentator said who he was. He was rather adorable, wasn't he? XD
Everyone said Norway would win long before the contest (I even read they had already pre-booked the venue in Oslo for next year, so confident they were!). When he started collecting 12 points from everyone, it got kind of boring to see the rest of the voting. The Spanish commentator said the inclusion of a jury didn't make things too varied either, and he was right - after all, Turkey still got many points from the expats, the Ex-Yugoslavia countries still voted each other... The United Kingdom was a nice surprise, though.
The Spanish song was originally very different. I watched the finals and it was VERY Spanish, with lots of guitars and flamenco-like singing. They not only gave the song a huge makeover, they completely changed the singer's look: she went from long brown hair, to this look. (By the way, am I the only one who thought "GUTI!" when seeing Soraya's long haired dancer? XD).
He was rather adorable, wasn't he? XD He was! :P And now that Blue has reunited, I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him. :P
I was a bit too absorbed by Westlife back then, but that never stopped me from fangirling over Blue, and Duncan, more specifically! XD I'm glad to hear they've reunited... not that I'll ever see them live here, though. ;)
Right, I read that somewhere. XD Not too excited as I had already grown out of the boygroup idea when they split up but it was certainly a fun piece of my past to show up again. =D
Good to see it's no a piece of your past that embarrasses you... I have a few that make me shiver just by thinking of them. LOL
I live in Argentina. :D We get lots and lots of US artists on TV and radio, but only a few from the UK, which is a pity, if you ask me. I remember when I was at the highest point of my Westlife fangirling days (2000-2002), if MTV played any of their videos, it deserved a celebration. :P
