Wolves can eat a quarter of their own body weight at a sitting. Given that a big wolf weighs just a little more than a hundred pounds, that means that, theoretically, a good-sized specimen of Canis lupus lycaon could eat twenty-five pounds worth of Bambi and still have some sneezing room left over ( Read more... )

Blessings come in abundance when you allow them to, dearheart.

I think they come according to some weird schedule that has nothing to do with your own need/readiness. The world is funny that way. But life is more enjoyable if we aren't so busy worrying about losing what we have that we forget to enjoy it while it's there.

Now, if I could just internalize that lesson . . .

I ran across a quote recently that I've fallen in love with: "Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want."

But in my life, I've found that they come in a schedule very, very much in accord with my own need/readiness - with the REALITY of that need/readiness, not with my comfort level or perception of same.

What I need seems to be provided when I most need it, true, but I wonder at the accuracy of my own perceptions when it comes to things like that. Mostly I try to take things as they come and not question too much. That way lieth madness.

Congrats on the potential opprotunities.

"Since I'm just a girl, I howl, pee on something, and then I write..." That's probably more information about your kinks than I really need to know. *snicker*

I feel the best way to think about it is to always remember Terry Pratchett's rule of Pre-emptive Karma: when you have something wonderful happen to you, you can count on something else occurring to keep you from fully enjoying that wonderful event/person/thing taking place in your life. So I say, don't jinx it. Keep your potentially happy thing under wraps, then gush about it when it comes true. And I'll keep my fingers crossed that it does!

I feel much the same way. I've jinxed a lot of good things by talking about them. I know it's bullshit, but on some level, I'm totally paranoid and superstitious about it.

A sentiment so strongly felt, she said it twice.

::giggles::

Besides, superstitions can't be helped. It only natural.

Hee hee, totally silly, but it made me think of this nature show I saw once, where they had these pigeons(some kind of bird, anyway) and they'd give food out on an irregular basis. The birds tried to figure out how to make food come, so whatever it was they were doing when food was delivered, that was what they'd do every time - anything from pecking the floor, to jumping up and down to bobbing their head. The show went on to use it as a corollary to how people develop superstition re:black cats, lucky poker hats, everything.

Juuust made me think of it. Anyway. I know you'll have good luck. ::crosses fingers, just in case::
