Paper of all kinds, ink, embellishments (gears! tiny keys! typewriter-key-like little brads!), antiquing spray, mounting tape, blank envelopes and cards, blank item tags, those little foam squares that make stuff stand out, peel-and-stick glue dots, sticky-backed jewels, mica powder, hole punches. . . . There's a ton of stuff in the scrapbooking section that is awesome to have on hand.
I'm like that with Pokémon cards. I have invented a fictitious somewhere-between-four-and-nine-year-old son (depending on what I want) of an imaginary single mother friend for whom I buy/collect various Pokémon things (and it's actually worked wonders on Freecycle, where an adult asking for such things for themselves is ignored but as soon as a child is involved, it's like !!!! "OH PLZ TAKE MAH STUF"). I'm not entirely ashamed but when it comes to the Freecycle stuff, it's just easier to say that.
I went through a phase where I was embarrassed that I liked them (in my hardcore goth days), but as I got older, I was like FUCKIT & dove back in wholeheartedly.
Despite totally different hobbies...I understand. I feel the same almost uncontrollable urge to babble to the cashier how those instant mashed potato flakes are for feeding my sourdough mix. Not because I can't cook and would feed that to my SO. Not bashing Betty Crocker or anything. :D

See, I'm not into Pokemon (my sons-- who are four and eight years old-- HEH!) are, but I love seeing adults geek out about geeky shit like that.

Plus, a fair amount of guys & girls have really dug that about me & found my lack of shame about Childish Stuff That Is Fun© attractive on some level >_>
