I will put my tongue in your ass but I will not scrapbook your fucking vacation pictures.

I left a shorter version of this in comments to ursulav's rather ashamed post about her fear of being mistaken for a scrapbooker. That post is worth reading in its entirety. Ursula is awesome ( Read more... )

Yes! Exactly. I've SEEN some of these scrapbook pages and they are AMAZING, so there is no reason at all for me to feel this way.

Uh, that was a chain craft store? Believe me, you did not see the hardcore yarn addicts. I go drinking with them every month, and most of us roll spin our own. At least in part. I don't so much, but I'm a lazy addict who expects the coke fiber to come to my nose hand.

Bethany and Ruby in the writers' group both spin lovely yarn. Bethany especially does a lot of it and it makes me wish I could do something with it. But I REALLY don't need another hobby.

I haven't worked up the nerve to try spinning, but I could probably bankrupt myself in a good hurry hand-dyeing yarn blanks.

Sorry, should have specified -- by "hardcore yarn addicts" I mean Grandmas and Aunties who get REALLY UPSET when we run out of Red Heart in pink because their niece's sweater won't be finished in time for her 18th birthday. Did I tell you I put a kitten on it? She loves kittens.

The spinning and hand-dyeing fiber addicts are like coke addicts - refined, successful and productive, if occasionally manic. The kind we got in the craft store were more akin to meth addicts -- totally oblivious to the fact that they were making bad choices.
