I have to say that so far, of the progesterone side effects, I much prefer the dizziness and disorientation to the fits of uncontrollable rage ( Read more... )

It's possible that those effects will chill in a couple of days or that it will take a couple of days for the drug to affect the bleeding. Progesterone is a steroid and steroids tend to have a slow onset of action, which is why when you take a steroid like prednisone for asthma, you need a bunch of other drugs to keep you breathing for the first day after you start until the prednisone kicks in.

Thi sis like day four? Now? I mean, he said the bleeding should stop pretty fast, so if it's not stopped by monday, I'm going to be like, Fuck this shit. The rage part is what clinches it. I can't be that kind of crazy and still cope with shit.

Yeah, 4 days it ought to have fixed the problem.

Hormones, rage, irrational behavior...remember boys in high school?

Proof hormones can make you crazy...

Approaching the situation from a sort of engineering perspective, they seem to have tried a lot of solutions fixed upon the hypothesis that the problem is your female parts. None of those has worked so far. So maybe the hypothesis is wrong.

Have they looked at whether this could be a manifestation of something that originates outside your female parts and just wound up there--like Crohn's disease? Crohn's is an autoimmune disease that causes holes (fistulas) to form between different hollow organs in the gut. So it's theoretically possible to have bleeding from the GI tract come out via the uterus or vagina via a fistula from somewhere else.

Grasping at straws. It just seems weird that they've tried so many female-related solutions and made nary a dent in the problem. Makes me wonder if they're trying to treat the wrong problem.

"I did not know howrmones could do this."

Oh, yes, yes they can. It's really quite crazy what hormones can cause.

FWIW, my mom used a progesterone cream some while back, I forget the reason; it was probably not as strong as what your doctor has you on, but I remember quite clearly that it had nasty side effects, including uncontrollable rage. The week or two she was trying it were not pleasant for us... and I'm sure not for her, either.

Definitely call your doctor, and keep us posted. And feel free to call me if you need to vent or anything.

*big hugs*

Seriously. And he even included a nice description just in case she wasn't in the mood to read about some horrible thing, just to make sure she couldn't escape it.
