Considering that was at the height of my vampire phase, and I watched everything that came out on vampires, I think I know which one you are talking about. Let me do a little digging...

I used to have a friend on LJ named alexlucard who was about as into the vampire mythos as it gets.

He's no longer on LJ, but if I can find him I'd bet he'd know the answer.

IIRC he was actually on several of those shows (and quite attractive himself, but he's from the US, so no help with that bit at least).

There's a couple I know of: the History Channel's special Vampire Secrets as well as A&E's special The Secret Life of Vampire.
