I'd have tried that ploy years ago if I thought it would work. Sadly, I don't expect it would. And despite the fact that the world is growing smaller, the lines between nations gets thicker every day. It's harder to legally immigrate/emigrate now than it used to be; unless you're coming ashore with a huge stash of cash, you can pretty much forget it. The labor laws make it difficult to impossible for regular folks (as in "those without the few magical degrees/skillsets that are in high demand") to be hired (and people wonder why there's so much illegal immigration).
