Look! Text! No Pictures!

Holy hell! Last night it stormed. I've lived through almost thirty-one years of Oklahoma weather, which is probably the most fucked-up in the country, and I've never seen anything like that. It was nothing but lightning and thunder for hoursAt one point, lightning struck so near to the house that the thunderclap was instantaneous. It was also ( Read more... )

I'm jealous. I love storms like that. The last time I had one was when I was living in Texas. They just aren't the same up here. *grumble*

Yeah, as un-fun as it was being kept awake last night, if I moved away from here I would REALLY miss the storms.

I used to go outside, into the middle of our not-busy street, and dance in the rain during the lightning storms. It drove my housemate nuts, because she was certain I was going to get myself killed. :P

Ironically, we have storm warnings up this way. Here's hoping it's a decent one.

Last night must have been a "storm" day on natures calender as we had thunder, lightening and rain like I haven't seen in a while!

I was in Muscogee this weekend working a faire with my husband, and it woke us up about daylight Monday. It must have followed me, because it's been storming here in the DFW area as well.

You aren't related to one of the Norse gods or anything, are you? That was some serious storm queen shit, right there. SCARY.

The Muskogee renfaire? apocalypticbob wenches there! Cool!

I missed it this year, alas! Just too damn tired, and no money to spend. Feh.

How DO Oklahomans feel about the song "Okie From Muskogee"? Seriously, I've always wondered.

I have only the vaguest awareness of country music, since I loathe about 98% of it, but I can tell you that it got plenty of radio play when I was a kid, and that back when you used to have those coin-op jukeboxes at dinner tables in diners, it was on every single one of 'em. It's still on a lot of jukeboxes around here. That one and "Tulsa Time" got a lot of play.

That said, the lyrics are incredibly stupid. If I were from Muskogee and moved out of Oklahoma, thus prompting everyone who learned that to start singing that fucking song at me, I might go insane. The way, say, it drives me nuts because people tend to start in with that fucking "OOOOOOOOOOOOklahoma!" crap whenever I visit somewhere not here.

At least the Ooooooooklahoma song has more tolerable lyrics, even if I did have to sing it about nine million times in junior high. (I've also learned that if you pick up and sing the WHOLE DAMN SONG at them, the look is so totally worth it. "OH, GOD, WHAT HAVE I DONE!?")
