First, I'm going to love on my kitties even more than usual.
Then, I'm going to light a candle for Joey.
And then, I'm going to work up the most devastating curse I can think of against that... that... gah, I can't even come up with a word vitriolic enough.

You did a brave and noble thing helping Joey. He's on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, waiting for you so he can thank you.
It's so heartening to see living proof of a person taking action to help feral cats that's not on the Animal Planet network. I need to do more than donate money to the humane society, but it's at least something. If only more people would do "at least something" to protect the animals.
I'm with you on this -- I'll send something once the PayPal is up -- and I'm doing what I can to help with my own local group's current effort to save cats due to a panleukemia crisis (most of the other foster homes have been exposed and are thus considered unsafe for the next year). I'm taking in a rescued kitten on Wednesday, and I plan on continuing to foster cats as long as I am able.
I think what you're doing is amazing in multiple ways. You're doing something to change a bad situation on a local scale, and you're spreading that attitude by writing about it. I got involved in fostering because of the enthusiasm of a friend, and I've now adopted a kitten and am fostering. The more we can spread this awareness, the more we can chip away at the problem.

You and the vets did the very best they could, and he died loved and in a good place rather than cold and wet and alone.

I'm ready and willing to kick a few bucks your way as soon as you get the PayPal thing set up. Some good can still come of this, thanks to you *hugs*

Sometimes the gods send us gifts. Sometimes the gods choose us to be the gift to another. Thank you for being a gift from the gods for Joey.
