The Ballad of Resurrection Joe

Sep 02, 2006 13:51

The good news is that Joey made it through the night. I called this morning, was assured that he was doing well and had eaten again, and was even walking around, so I decided to pay a visit.

It went about as well as something like that can go when you have a horrible barking dog in one ear. Joey looks like a different kitten. He still looks ( Read more... )

Thats one very bloody lucky kitty, ill or not, he's had more of a chance than he did before. I still would have been tempted to kick the snot out of the "owner"

Earlier in the year we had the same situation with a (former) upstairs neighbour: she kept feeding the local feral strays out of pity, encouraging them to breed and run wild on the property. We never got a head-count on the number of strays and litters inhabiting the area, but between disease and territory, there were enough to threaten my two domestic cats. The upstairs neighbour simply didn't understand that she was doing more harm than good, and she objected--loudly--to my idea of calling in humane services. I'm glad he's doing better; if Paypaling a buck or two to help with expenses could help, please let me know.

You could always dress the crazy cat lady as the stuffed toy Fish loves so much and sic Fish on her for this "mistreatment" (I'm sure the cat lady means well but as you said, doesn't get it even *with* a Clue By Four to the back of the head).

Definately a damned-if-you-do-or-don't with the other little ones. *shrug* I'd certainly my best to get the cats to someplace that might offer a better chance (a sick thought crossed my mind: lure them out with Joey and when they come to investigate, catch 'em)...

Lizard Rat out.
Sending good mojo Joey's way in Albany NY
