Well, I'm not dead. Yet.

Christ. On a pony. This week has been so long I thought I would never see the end of it.

Do you even know what happens when you have insomnia so bad it keeps you from sleeping even though you have taken four sleeping pills? Oh. My. God ( Read more... )

Gosh. Most people have to take drugs to get like that. I know, I know... "Blah blah blah. Brain chemicals are the same. Blah blah blah."

I hope you're okay and aren't too squirrelly for tomorrow night. I'm glad one of you is finally getting fixed.

It was like being on acid. Seriously.

I slept for about 10 hours; I should be good to go, though I may have to come home early if I get twitchy.

I have only had hallucinations once from not sleeping... the not sleeping was self-induced, though - I had a Halloween party that ran for 3 days. Then the booze ran out. After the party, my aunt had an emergency family thing about 800 miles away - and I was volunteered to drive her.

Hardest drive of my life.

I kept seeing shit dash in front of me on the highway. I was hearing people/songs/animals that weren't there. It was some freaky shit.

I hope your sleeping settles down a bit. :)

And congrats on the partial couple sterilization!

Deb

Sleeping pills are fucking evil, if you're not having the paranoid twitchies, then you wake up feeling just as out of it, or at least i do.

I've discovered that being a scot i have the perfect soloution, drink your self into a coma, whilst learning how to swear in serveal languages. If you dont sleep, and least you got pissed, and had a good laugh.

The noises and shit go away eventually, at one stage i couldnt sleep because familiar things looked like some lovecraftian creation of hell, i even belted the cat because of it.

glad to see the docs are finally willing to fix one of you.

I used to take an herbal version instead of the regular sleeping pills and those worked out for me. That and the before-bed ritual of showering, stretching, and classical music. I'm sure you've been looking at non-chemical insomnia tips so I'll just shut up about that now. 'lol'

Once I was getting so little sleep in highschool(insomnia and nightmares, sometimes 4 a night) that I thought once at my friend's house that there was some menacing guy standing behind the snowman in his yard. That and other little things. They went away, of course.

I've found that the nightmares haven't plagued me so much since I started having regular lucid dreams, though. As for the insomnia, well I got pregnant and then had a kid, and that was the end of that, but obviously there are other side effects to that which you'd be highly put off by. 'lol'

Meditation, breathing, and progressive muscular relaxation are incredibly effective techniques for managing all kinds of squirrelly brain-crap. They aren't a fix, but they enable you to at least get a handle on it. If the body is tense and unable to respond, the mind is also tense and unable to respond.

I've found deep breathing to be especially helpful.
