Yeah, I'm the crazy cat lady.
So, a friend of mine,
celticmistress, also an Amanda, is moving from Texas to Michigan to get out of a dangerous relationship. Like, "thank god she's leaving" dangerous.
It's taken some doing and a whole lot of finger-crossing, but we've got her transportation, and she has safe places to stay on the way up and has a safe place to stay temporarily when she gets there. That's the good news.
The bad news is that she cannot have her cats with her in the place she's staying until she gets her own place. Alas, the person who was supposed to temporarily take in her kitties until she can get her own place has reneged on the deal due to being a total jerk, and she's left with nobody to care for them.
We are looking for kind-hearted people in Michigan who could temporarily foster three cats. I stress temporarily; Amanda absolutely wants them back, and finding her own place where she can have cats is top priority. Their names are Naamah, Jak Jak, and Geronimo. Here. Have visual aids:
Naamah!
Jak-Jak!
Geronimo, aka MoMo!
She needs out of this situation, and she needs out ASAP. She's not willing to leave her cats behind, though, and with damn good reason. Psycho exes are sort of hard on pets. Please help me and Amanda's other friends do a good thing and get a great gal and her cats (one of whom is named after me, so I'm, you know, invested) to a safe place.
Right now, she is due to arrive in Michigan on Wednesday the 16th. The target area is Perry, MI, just northeast of Lansing. I will pass along emails sent to me, but Amanda can be reached directly at kthnxkbai@gmail.com.
If you know anyone in Michigan who might be able to help, please pass this along. Hell, pass it along anyway, and if you know any relevant-type communities, please feel free to cross-post this there. This isn't just for the kitties, it's for Amanda, too. The trip is going to be hard enough without her having to worry about what to do with her babies once she gets there. If it were me, I know it would break my heart to leave without knowing what was going to happen to my cats.
Also, while we're on the subject, Amanda's sister [also in Perry, MI -- ed.] recently rescued a very young abandoned kitten, and he needs a home, too. When she found him in a parking lot, he was so weak from hunger he could not hold his head up. He's about five/six weeks old, and he's doing surprisingly well now! Alas, the other cats in the house he's in are not taking too well to him, and he needs to be in a safer place, too. He is absolutely freakin' precious. Behold.
They're calling him Charlie, for Charlie Chaplin. I am so charmed by his white whiskers and little white toes that I would take him if I could. Alas, I can't. Maybe youall could help with that, too?
I realize I do a lot of begging on behalf of animals. That is just how this year has gone; I feel bad pestering you for it when that's almost all I've done for months now, but what else can I do? Lots of kitties have crossed my path needing help, and now a friend of mine really needs help and has to get out now, and . . . well . . . this is just what you do when the world is a scary place, but you don't feel like accepting "that's just how it is." By god, I will make whatever difference I can make.
Not asking for money this time, just word of mouth. Please help me do this. I care about my friend and her kitties, and I want her away from the really bad situation she is in. I want her to be able to do this difficult thing and still be able to keep her cats. I know, for me, my cats are sometimes the one thread of sanity that keeps me from snapping completely. Tazendra is in my lap right now comforting me after an awful day and without her, I don't know where I'd be.
The other Amanda needs her kitties too. Pass this along, hey?
ETA: Got a location! Kitties are all located in the lower peninsula, town of Perry, just northeast of Lansing. Also, direct contact email for Amanda is kthnxkbai@gmail.com.
