Our society has a certain notion of what an adult and a child is supposed to be like. These notions remain as notions, and are completely mutable.
I don't think it is anyone's place but yourself to tell you how to live and be. Everything else is advice that moves the process of your growth along.
You should live how you see fit. As far as the guy you're interested in. . .I wouldn't worry about it so much. There's 6 billion + people on this Earth. There are other people out there for you.

I think most people look back upon being a kid as something special, but nothing stops the ebb and flow of time. Memories good and bad alike have their value, it helps ground our minds in a decent place; where we've been, who we've known, things we've done, a lot like a journal really ;-). In my personal experience, it's not good to dwell on a memory for to long. The beginning of strength is learning how to keep marching over broken ground. Whatever things look like, life has a funny way of changing, whether it takes 20 seconds or 20 years. (In my parents case, it took both... lol).
Remember the first rule of life, is survival!
