I've said it once and I'll say it again, dark plot is fine if you're the one writing it, your style can get everything across well and could never put me off. Promise.
As for the 40 odd sims...I haven't got much advice, I'm afraid. This is why I chose an OWBC with 4 gens, there will never be over 40 Psychs all told. I guess...do side stories? Or try to keep it restricted to kind of main people? I'm no use though, I love reading about them all, so anything you do I'll be happy. :)
Could you sort of vent a few plot points to each of us? That way we'd all be able to help, but none of us would have death by spoilers.
*hugs* for the revision. Dare I ask what scary historical/political topics your exams are on?
Aww, thank you. Though I'm sure you have far too much faith in me. My worst fear (besides putting everyone off) is that it goes back to generation 2 style again: 'Your mother just burnt to death in a house fire? Oh that's a shame... Slide of people crying for about 5 minutes done? Good, life goes on!' and 'Rick and Allen? Er, are you sure they existed and weren't just in your imagination?' *shakes head
( ... )
It's always tough when you get to the point where you have more sims and ideas than space in the story. What I've done in the past is write an interlude to tell that story
( ... )
I get what you mean with your legacy - you'd think 'And then Marielle gets kicked out and has to live in a little house on the edge of town and Eddie marries Carmen and it's all lovely', but then there's the effects on the boys... And the same with Alexandra and Joe; you just can't ignore these things.
I think I'm just going to need /a lot/ of planning in order to make sure I don't miss mentioning any bits that'll have to come up later - I may be able to get by with just a couple of slides for some, but they can't be ignored.
I feel your pain. An evergrowing bunch of sims, you'd want to talk about them all, show off them all, and once you involve them in plot, you're suddenly in trouble. That's probably part of the reason why I felt kinda burned out with the Bookacies this winter, just too many things on my plate, too many sims all of which I love, too many loose hanging plot threads, and threads that go on and on and on into the future...
I can't say I have any good advice for you, but I do have lots of sympathy. Maybe that helps? *hugs* You'll find a way. Good luck on the revision, too.
The thing is that I'm not necessarily that bothered about a number of them most of the time, but that's because they're relatively boring - I can just throw in a couple of cute/interesting pictures in some picspam and that's all that would or could be shared, but suddenly give them drama and they're interesting and sympathetic and you don't want to do down their suffering. I might be able to keep it low, but... *nods* Curse our desire to make everything interesting and complex!
On your advice I have looked over my characters, but it's difficult because it goes into generation 5 and they're not born, so I don't know who's going to be interesting, and then that impacts onto their parents in generation 4... Everybody's just married or related or friends, and you make one important and they drag everyone else in with them

*nods* Well, I don't think I can honestly say the plotline's going to make me 'happy', but... Yeah, I get what you mean :) Thanks *hug* *watches Castiel again*
