Holden is attempting insomnia. Multiple threads welcome!

Looking not a little haggard, Holden propped himself up on one hand, staring down at his half eaten Big Mac. Sleep had been hard to come by, what with rushing, vivid dreams that had been haunting him and the unpleasant feeling that he was missing something that inevitably followed. He had decided to avoid sleep days ago, and the only 24 hour place ( Read more... )

Dennis was stuck in an unholy limbo of half drunk and half hungover. His stomach churned and his head beat a gentle tup-tup-tup against the back of his eyes that would have been comfortingly familiar if it weren't so damn unpleasant, and he still had six blocks to walk before he was home ( ... )

Someone dropping heavily into the seat in front of him was enough to drag even Holden's waning attention up. He really wished he hadn't.

"I don't have any nor am I interested in buying any drugs." On his next inhale Holden winced a little. "Or liqueur." He wasn't familiar with the protocol, but he was fairly sure this was not an attempt to sell sex. And if it was, he imagined the economy was effecting people worse than originally thought. Approaching people in fast food restaurants at random was hardly a good business plan.

Both of Dennis's eyebrows shot up at Holden. He seemed stunned for a moment, his mouth hanging just slightly slack, before he turned his face to the side and laughed hard against his shoulder.

"Man," he said and leaned back, digging through his bag to pull out a Big Mac. "I just came from a party, guy, I'm not looking for booze or drugs. Just thought I recognized you. Dennis Howarth - doesn't ring a bell, does it?"

As he spoke, though, he had a feeling that he knew exactly what was going on. Whoops. Maybe he shouldn't have just sauntered up like that. "You taken any theater classes?"

"I don't think we've met. Holden Taros." His words were clipped, but he relaxed a little against the uncomfortable plastic seat now that he was sure there wouldn't be any selling of illegal substances. "And I haven't done any theater, no. I'm a student at Colombia, though."

Holden was carefully ignoring the part of him that seemed to think this Dennis was familiar, since it came from the same part of him that thought the weird dreams were a good thing and should be encouraged.

Cali was in the same listless state that Holden was in. Those dreams of far off wars and tributes to great men were keeping her up. Although why she chose to saunter into a McDonald's of all filthy places was beyond her. Maybe she could write another piece there for school, something on a modern foreign war.

The young woman, carrying her bag, passed by the man and accidentally hit him on the shoulder. She stopped and turned. "Oh, sorry." It was then she had this feeling she had seen him. But no, she didn't know him. But she felt like she did. Like she told that old man in her dreams about him. What the hell was happening?

Holden was jerked out his stupor by a jolt to his shoulder. "Hm?" he asked, glancing up. Another flash, like the dreams, and Holden was sure he'd seen this girl before. "It's fine," he said, sounding distracted. It took him a full thirty second to realize he was staring. Blinking quickly, Holden glanced back toward his food then back up at the woman, curious.

"Do you go to Colombia?"

It was alright. She was trying not to do the same thing, and failing miserably. Cali looked him over. No, she definitely knew some part of him, but she knew that it wasn't her that was privy to this information. "NYU, actually. Journalism major." Cali offered a hand and a small smile.

"This may sound weird, but I feel like I know you. You're not from Astoria, are you?" She asked, still standing there with her McFlurry and bag.

"No, not weird." He smiled a little, which felt weird. He was rarely so willing to talk to strangers. "And no again. Born and raised in Fulton. Maybe we've seen each other around? Manhattan isn't that big."

Holden nudged the chair in front of him out a little, nodding for her to take a seat. "I'm Holden."

It was nearing dawn and yet again Marcus had been evaded by the embrace of a good nights sleep, but taking the annoying suffrage of being up till and past dawn he decided to make the best of it and try out some of the horrible American 'cuisine', and that's how he ended up here.

Zach wouldn't normally step foot inside a fast food restaurant but there were times when he couldn't deny the craving for something really greasy like a good Big Mac and a large fries. Placing his order, he turned to wander over to the little island where he could get ketchup, napkins and a straw for his soda. When his tray of food was ready, he placed everything on top before lifting the tray to carry it over to the tables.

Sitting down, he glanced at a nearby table where he spotted a young man who was struggling to stay away or something. Arching a brow, he plucked a couple of fries from his tray before glancing over again. "Long day?" He asked casually before biting his fries.
