001 [mysterious as the dark side of the moon]

[The hand is neat enough, but has in it relics of a more archaic type--capital letters perhaps larger than a modern reader would find normal, some serifs and flourishes; a trained or talented eye might pick up on the writer being more used to writing with an instrument with a slanted tip.]

Greetings, [pause, as if in recollection], Edensphere. I ( Read more... )

Edensphere is not so much a country but a world in an of itself. But yes, everyone arrives here without memories.

My name is Raise. It's good to meet you, Paladin.

Well met, Raise.

'A world in and of itself'? From what do you draw that conclusion? The map I was given seems to indicate Edensphere being too small for that. Although, in its own way it is a comfort to hear I am not alone in my amnesia.

Well, it is a tree within a glass sphere. While it's too small to be a planet, there is no obvious way in or out. It is self-sustaining and bears life. Size aside, I see no reason for it not to be a world.

I see.

[pen taps]

Which reminds me, a question I did not think to ask Blood: Who is king here?

For doing things, I would say to take a day or two and explore the second floor. After that, you just might find something that interests you!

Forgive my impertinence, but whose writing is this?

What manner of things may be found on the second floor? [after he writes this, he starts to unfold his map himself]

Oh, sorry! I'm Lucy, Paladin.

1. Marketplace
2. Farm
3. Race Track
4. The Dojo (Rose and Crow live here though just to warn you)
5. The Park
6. Medical Island (it's important to know where it is!)

[The writing appears slowly, as Paladin is examining the map as he replies]

Well met, Lucy.

I see them and many more on this map, thank you. I find it quite astounding that there can be a tree growing from a body of water of such size without ill effect. Does anyone ply a ferry here?

What manner of creatures are raced at the track? Hounds? For that matter, what is a 'dojo'? The word seems like it should be familiar, but

Does that mean you were born at the same time?

Yes, sir or madam. Our greeter Blood told us that the tradition of this place is that those [pause, pen taps] hatched at once are siblings. As he hatched moments before I, he is the elder, and I the younger. It fits us as he appears to be some years older than I.

If that's the case... then I have a sister.

...I find it a comfort not to be alone in this place. I hope it is the same for the two of you...?

Nice to meet you Paladin, cool name by the way.

That's how we all started out, yeah. I'm Codename but if you need advice, ask away. We're pretty friendly, and we'll answer what you need answered if we can.

Well met, Codename. In truth, Blood instructed me that the way of land is to choose names from our dreams, and 'Paladin' was the only thing worth taking away from mine.

So I have seen. I thank you all deeply.
