Yes, it's that Free Willy song I used to scoff at in my youth. It was background noise like so many other MJ songs at the time. But that's their wonder, isn't it? That so many of us can use his music to measure our youths, remembering where we were and what we were doing when this song or that video was released? I read somewhere that if you grew ( Read more... )

I can remember watching them on the Sonny and Cher show! I wonder how much of this media revelry and adoration is fan driven, or if it's more like the press's attempt at redemption. ((hugs)) I know all this has hit you hard.

Most of it is fan-driven, though the press does play a role, of course. Even throughout his legal problems, he remained much beloved the world over. We're talking 40 years of pop culture relevance here. My 47-year-old sister, my 36-year-old brother, and my 16-year-old niece have all been affected by his death. The hoopla would have happened no matter when or how he died, but compounded with the suddenness of it, the circumstances surrounding it, the questions...

Thanks.

Yeah, it's pretty unbelievable that he lasted so long and touched so many generations of people. He wanted to be loved and never forgotten. I'd say he's achieved that. What a legacy he's left! We should all be so lucky. I think he was the same Michael the entire time really. He just grew up, like we all do.

oh, I realized I wrote it as it she went out their *to* attend the service, which she didn't, it just happened to be happenstance that she is in LA at this time (I have no idea if she went to go see the service, if its open like that, or if its just so packed and crazy one is happy to stay away. I think she probaly didn't, but yet, I would think there is a possibility she might have) - so I wonder how that was! I will see her later this week :)
