My Mom has decided to help me with my cleaning whether I like it or not. I told her I want to do it myself.. that it was important to me to be able to do it myself. And that I would be really mad if she came over but she said she didn't care and that she would be here in an hour ( Read more... )

I hope you'll be able to look more at the good points of it now than you were when you wrote this post. I can totally understand what you're saying and how you were feeling.

Having her help you out with this- or do it for you if that's what happened, doesn't mean that you failed at it. But it's a great boost for you. Because maintaining a home is so much easier than getting it there in the first place. So when things get bad and you're not good at housekeeping to begin with, it's like you have to start out at expert cleaner level before you can work your way up to easy beginner housekeeper level.

It would be so good for you if you could take this as the loving gesture it was and not be so (damn) hard on yourself and make it about what you didn't/couldn't do. There's nothing to be ashamed of when someone gives you a hand. In fact, you could be proud of being a person someone else cared enough to help.

Plus, you know, parents are just pigheaded like that.
