I have the strong suspicion that someone I wrote band slash about has actually read the piece and knows it was me (and I've been in the extended friendly presence of someone else who I wrote bandslash about, but I doubt that guy's actually read it... though I don't know; he can be a bit surprising). It's pretty uncomfortable, yeah. But also kind of funny, since it's not about THEM; it's about an idea inspired by them.
But yeah, sending your slash to Proulx, and then IMPLYING THAT SHE DID IT WRONG AND YOU'RE FIXING IT FOR HER? That really takes the cake.
I have harbored a sneaking desire to write A-Team/ 20/20 slash. Surely you've thought about B.A. Barracus and Barbara Walters getting down and dirty on the anchor's desk.
God, I wonder how much Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert slash there must be out there. I'd actually READ that.

Of course, this only perpetrates the misconception that all fanfic sucks and is written by 'dorks'. Oh well.
