grasping at straws

Mar 13, 2008 16:53

Thanks to a sudden violent upswing in the amount of work I have to do at work (gee, imagine that) and the fact that suddenly there are a million things to do outside of work, my writing output has been severely curtailed.

At the moment I'm not writing anything. No sir, I don't like it. But hmmm... am I not writing because I'm depressed, or am I ( Read more... )

Hee - that's the one!

There's another very sleazy bio of Morrissey that's out there, which I have to wait to buy until I've got the money... wait, I have the money now! Woot!

I was just talking about him last night to a pal who has never seen the show, but who is a big ol' Eccleston 9th Doctor fan... her eyes got really big. I laughed at first, then I thought of his beard and how I always imagined it was really soft... and then I sighed with longing. CLAUDE!

I should make a new Claude icon... snarky this time.

Damn, I really miss the show, too. I need to find someone new to introduce all my Season 1 DVDs to so I can watch them again.

It's a great excuse... I'm just watching them as things remind me of them. Right now it's Claude time, but I can feel some hardcore Bennet action coming up (God, that sounds dirty, doesn't it?... )

I wish that every single DVD set had a function where you could just watch one character's scenes... there's no reason why that couldn't happen; all they'd have to do was tag each scene, the way we tag HTML entries. I mean, hell, if it wasn't for the handy-dandy NC-17 tag, what would I know what fic to read???? ;D But yeah... you could tag the whole series... "gore"... "homoerotic tension"... "torture"... "Nissan Versa"...

This is something I often ponder (although in my case not with writing). FWIW, I think it's the former, then the latter and from there into a vicious circle. I think you are therefore doing totally the right thing by taking a conscious decision to write even if you don't feel like it, emotionally. Hang in there!

Thanks... and yeah, the vicious circle is right. I need to make sure that I nip it in the bud ASAP, and thus I'll write some more fic while I'm doing my research reading... I'm just really glad I've got an audience for my fic, since I can't even share it with my friends (then again, I have the feeling that a whole lot of my friends actually read this LJ, but don't comment and don't tell me about it! It's not like I'm keeping it from them, and if they express interest in it, I direct them here. Maybe they're embarrassed.)

Learning how to write even when I don't feel like it is one of the things I learned in college. Once I'm writing, all is well. Always. I don't really get writers' block; just sometimes I don't feel like actually sitting down, eliminating distractions, and getting down to it. But I'd better do some this weekend (and ideally, tonight...)
