Ok, here's the deal: I've been wandering around all day in a state of mental fog, due to the fact that I couldn't get to sleep till two in the morning*, and then kept waking up. Sometimes melatonin can help you get back to a regular schedule. For me, I had to resort to ambien. Lovely stuff, that. But definitely not for everyone.

I sometimes use melatonin, but the sad part is that one single dose puts me to sleep for over ten hours; after a few days, I gain some resistance, but the first few mornings are hilarious for whomever gets me up. *observers see me wallsurf downstairs, looking for tea*
I think I might be a wee bit too sensitive to stimuli for my own good *wibble-wobbles*

Another trick you might want to try, that my Neurologist believes strongly in- Pick some task that you really hate to do. Laundry, dishes, dusting, scrub the shower- whatever. Inform yourself that if you aren't asleep within 30 minutes, you must get up and perform that task in detail.
You may have to get up and do it a few nights (to prove you're serious) but after that it should work! You fall asleep in self defense to avoid the chore.
Sounds silly, I know, but he swears by it for most people. :P
